![]() I was basically unsuccessful in trying to restore that image directly to the target machine, an Acer Aspire 5 A515-51-563W laptop. The original drive image was an image of a Win7 installation on an old Lenovo ThinkPad E430 laptop. I would try one way of restoring that would grind away for a half-hour or more while I turned to other things and then eventually I would come back to this and try again. I say these are “some” of the things I learned, because I screwed around with this, on and off, for days. This post conveys some of the things I learned while trying to do that. I wanted to see if I could restore that image to a different computer. Thanks.I had an old Windows 7 圆4 drive image, made via Acronis True Image Home 2011. Is there anyway to fix this and still leave all my data intact. Even the bios shows this drive as being 500GB in capacity. The acronis software shows the correct capacity but it says most of the this space is used which is wrong also. Soon, I will not be able to install any new software because my computer thinks I am running out of space on my C drive. I am totally confused and clueless as to how to even go about repairing this. When I open my computer and right click on the C drive and select properties, it shows only 120GB capacity and not the new 500GB capacity of the new drive. All went ok and I got back up and running quickly.Ĩ. After installing this new drive, I did a full restore from the backup I made.ħ. I went to walmart and purchased a 500GB western digital internal HDD.Ħ. A year later, my 120GB internal HDD crashed.ĥ. I then backed up my entire internal 120GB HDD to an external HDD.Ĥ. I am new at this and not that technical so please understand.Ģ. Ok, let me try to explain this as simply as I can in step by step fashion.
